JAH ROOTS - MEDITATION FROM A HIGHER HEIGHTS

Based on Psalm 1 comes a majestic Dub Track by Jah Roots. This is definitely one of Jah Roots' best riddims! Sure Dread plays a killer melodica line over a supertight drum and bassline while Messian Dread chants words of wisdom from the Higher Heights.

MORE INFO

Words written thousands of years ago still stand strong today. The Psalm has been used by many conscious Reggae Artists. Jah Roots has interpretated the first Psalm in two extended Dub mixes with long vocal and melodica parts.

The first mix (currently unavailable) starts off with all kinds of weird and extreme dub effects, and then the vocals enter and the Psalm is recited and interpretated. Then the riddim goes on, accompanied by effects, a few lines are spoken again and the mix goes even weirder, illustrating the words of the meditation. Then another part is introduced with a typical 1980's dancehall effect and more reasoning based on the Psalm. When the track continues, the chanting turns to singing until the end of mix 1, making the atmosphere a completely different one.

The second mix goes further on the theme, and starts off more easy as mix 1 as the rhythm section is slowly build up. Then the melodica plays a very long time, accompanied by subtle and not so subtle Dub effects. Then the melodica fades away in a sea of Piano and Guitar echo's, only to come back every now and then, until the vocals come into the mix again. Keyboards pop in and out while all kinds of effects are applied to achieve a variety of atmospheric soundscapes. And then, when the track reaches it's final phase, the vocals drop in and out in a growing degree.

LYRICS MEDITATION FROM A HIGHER HEIGHTS

Blessed is the man that walketh not
In the counsel of the ungodly
Blessed is the man that standed not
In the ways of the sinners
Blessed is the man that sitteth not
In the seat of the scornfull
Blessed is the man that walketh not
In a Babylonian Stylee I say

But his delight is in the law of the Lord God Jah
And His law does he meditate noth day and night
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water
Giving fruits in due season, his locks shall not whither

The ungodly are not so
They are like the chaff which the wind drives away

Words, words and teachings
From the Good Lord God JAH!

And this one is called Psalm 1 as I would say
Make the wicked drive away
From the congregation of the righteous
For it is impossible for a sinnerman
To stand in the congregation of the Righteous One

And therefore it is impossible for the ungodly
To stand in the judgement of Jah
But the wicked, the wicked ones,
They shall perish as I would say

The wages of sin is death
The Gift of Jah is eternal life in ZION!

Blessed is the man that walketh not
Inna the counsel of the ungodly
Neither does he stand on the ways of a sinner
No he does not stand in the ways of a sinner
For the wages of sin is death
But the gift of Jah is Eternal life Foriver

Blessed is the man that standeth not
On the ways of a sinner
Cause if you stand on the ways of a sinner
You are bound to sit in the seat of the scornfull
And them a scorn
And dem a laugh
Dem a wonder
If Jah Jah no see dem
