| This
is the first DUB from the Dubroom with
recordings from the band JAH ROOTS. The
music is played by musicians who have played
together for over a decade, no loops or
programming, and dubbed by Messian Dread in
the Dubroom.
In Jamaica, the land where Reggae
originated from, a "duppy" is the
name given to an evil spirit that is
haunting people, making them crazy and so
on. Bob Marley has sung a song about them
called "Duppy Conqueror".
This Jah Roots track ofcourse isn't a
cover from the Marley track, although the
title is a bit similar. The similarity goes
beyond the title, too, because conscious
dreads don't deal with the duppies, they
just chase them away in the Name of the
Messiah. And then, when the Conqueror comes,
the duppies must go. We have seen it many
times and we've seen it during the recording
sessions in which this track came to
existance too.
